UPDATES on the damage: Manypictures hanging in the halls inside had glass broken. Damage was also done to a window in the church nursery, two exterior glass doors and fire extinguisher cases. Several items from the church were found outside the building. Total damaged estimated in the thousands of dollars. There have been numerous church vandalism attacks in the area in recent months.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) ― Members of a Mormon church in Grand Junction are cleaning up after vandals broke windows, doors and pictures.

Members of a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints showed up Tuesday morning to help clean up. Grand Junction police are investigating the incident.

The damage included broken glass and numerous pictures that were vandalized. Two exterior glass doors and a window in the church nursery were broken. Fire extinguisher cases were smashed.

What appeared to be water was spilled in the chapel.
