Budget cuts will raise tuition: time to occupy!

1 Nov

State spending for colleges and universities will be cut by 40 percent and would be backfilled by federal stimulus dollars under a plan Gov. Bill Ritter revealed Wednesday to balance the current year’s budget.  Ritter plans to cut $145 million in general-fund revenue from colleges and universities, which comes on top of an $80.9 million cut made earlier this year. The governor wants to backfill both cuts with federal stimulus money, but that is dependent on a waiver from federal officials.
