Criminal steals glock from cop’s home

A burglar broke through a window and slipped into the home of a Northglenn police officer Friday night, stealing his Glock 26 pistol and a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser belonging to a friend.

The thief broke into the home near Northglenn Drive and Grant Drive between 7 and 9 p.m., said Sgt. Jeffrey Herronen of the Northglenn Police Department.

The burglar, who has not been caught, took the gun along with a full magazine, a laptop computer and a TV. The thief found the keys to the blue convertible PT Cruiser inside the home, Herronen said.

Police uniforms and equipment were not taken, he said. The total value of items taken was about $21,000.

Most burglaries happen during the day when people are at work and not at home, Herronen said. This one happened with a car parked out front at a time when people are usually at home. On top of that, the thief took an officer’s gun.

“It’s kind of bold,” Herronen said.
