Masked gunmen rob Taco Bell

Note: the media report seems to be contradictory on whether or not the workers themselves were robbed.  If they were, our sympathies would no longer be with the robbers.  It appears the manager and cash registers were hit.  No intelligent thief would bother hitting up fast food workers for their lunch money… right?

Two masked gunmen held up a fast-food restaurant in Colorado Springs on Thursday night, corralling six workers into an office and robbing them at gunpoint.

The robbery happened at about 8:45 p.m. at a Taco Bell, at 1750 N. Powers Blvd., according to the Colorado Springs Police Department crime blotter.

During the robbery one gunman held workers at bay while the other “escorted” the manager at gunpoint, “collecting cash and other valuables.”

One robber was armed with a semi-automatic pistol and the other with a revolver, police said.

Both men wore black hooded sweatshirts, black masks and black pants. The robbers fled on foot into a residential area near the business.

Officers, using a dog, tracked the bandits and recovered some money that had been dropped in a field.

The robbers were not found.
