Another armed bank heist in Denver, cops sweep neighborhood

16 Dec

AURORA – The FBI is looking for two men they have nicknamed the Hopping Hooded Bandits for the way they hop over the counter at banks and take money while wearing hooded clothing that covers their faces.

The FBI thinks the robbers have hit three different banks across the Denver area.

In the latest robbery, the FBI says the robbers struck a US Bank branch at East Colfax Avenue and Galena Street at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

No injuries were reported, but investigators say both men had handguns.

The FBI believes they previously robbed banks on Dec. 2 and Dec. 9.

A reward for the suspects’ capture has grown to $12,000.

(but we all know snitches get stitches.  Somebody could make more than that by robbing a bank, anyway.)

DENVER – Police were searching a neighborhood on Tuesday night for two bank robbers.

Denver Police say the two men were seen running into the neighborhood near 7th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard after they robbed a nearby US Bank around 5:40 p.m.

No shots were fired during the robbery and no one was injured.

Denver Police say the men fit the general description of two robbers the FBI has dubbed the Hopping Hooded Bandits, but cannot confirm if they are the same men.
