Woman attacks car repossession team

31 Dec

Boulder police arrested a 24-year-old Longmont woman late Monday on suspicion of assaulting a woman who was trying to repossess her Oldsmobile Alero.

Officers were called to the 4600 block of Broadway about 11 p.m. Monday. At the scene, police learned that a woman and her husband had been sent to repossess Charde Dickey’s Alero because she had not been making payments, said police spokeswoman Laurie Ogden.

When the couple told Dickey they were taking back the car, Ogden said, she became angry and started yelling at them. To keep the couple from taking her vehicle, Dickey got into the driver’s seat and tried to leave, according to Ogden.

The couple had parked their SUV behind the Alero so she couldn’t drive away, and the woman who was taking back the car stuck her head in the window to try and keep Dickey from shifting gears, Ogden said.

Dickey managed to get the car into gear and slammed into the SUV behind her before dragging the woman who was hanging out her window about 20 feet, according to Ogden.

Her husband called police, and officers arrested Dickey on suspicion of second-degree assault, menacing, criminal mischief, reckless driving and reckless endangerment. Dickey is being held at the Boulder County Jail.
